During the last few years, it has become evident that metabolites are not only a consequence of transcriptional programs, but rather play an active role in regulating cell signalling. In the submitted project, we ambition to define new signals delivered by dietary metabolites that regulate hematopoietic stem cell fate and dormancy. Specifically, we aim to integrate signalling across scales: environmental components (dietary; organism) - stem cell fate (interplay between stem cell metabolism and transcriptome/epigenome signaling networks; cell) - the mechanism driving lineage commitment (gain- and loss-of-function experiments). We aim to gain an integrative understanding of biological signalling across scales.
